Getting started

How do I use the system?

The design system can be used in two ways:

  • Fully compiled CSS, JavaScript, icons, fonts, etc.
  • Source files available to extend for your own site builds.

Compiled builds

Most initial use cases should use a compiled build. The easiest place to find these are in our campus Gitlab, where you’ll find a builds branch with both source and dist files for you to use.

If you need help finding it or you don’t have access, let us know.

Here’s what’s included:

Styles

Includes all production-ready files to produce a website. CSS, scripts, icons, fonts and university signatures are included.

Fonts

Includes CSS and web fonts for sites. A full font-stack is available in these files.

Components

Includes all Twig files to be used as templating files in WordPress and Drupal themes.

Source files

If you’d like to generate your own builds, you’ll need to use the source files. They’re also stored in our campus Gitlab.

You’ll also need to have a strong understanding of SCSS, Twig and using Node-based projects.

Information about how to compile your own code will be made available in the months to come. It is possible to use the code as a base — much like Bootstrap — and theme it to suit. Before doing that, though, please get in contact with us. We’d love to hear from you!
